This is a fun record from our friends A Very Special Episode, based out of New York. The record is pretty diverse, combining a lot of post-punk and shoegaze with a sound that’s almost 90s grunge-adjacent, without necessarily diving right into, like, Soundgarden.

The first half of the record starts off with post-punk and over the course of the record, moves into heavier shoegaze dirges and gnarly epics, complete with a lot of big vocals, wild drums and crazy, stringy guitar leads. It’s not easy to get an epic sound out of a three-piece, A Very Special Episode pull it off, particularly on later songs like Be Kind, Rewind.

They’re also pretty great at making videos.
