Cover of album "Et Cetera, Etc." by band dust

another great aussie guitar record from DUST, “Et Cetera, Etc” goes in different directions than PINCH POINTS with a denser and more layered take on post-punk that includes some nods to post-hardcore, both in terms of production and melody. both the second track “The Gutter” and the third track, “Alternator” start with monster riffs that sound almost like classic rock.

“The Gutter” then charges straight ahead with an anxious, straight-ahead banger that reminds me of a lot of The Rakes.

“Ward 52” opens up with a build that jumps into a mid-tempo rocker that wouldn’t be out of place on an IDLES record, though i don’t think they have a saxophone. closer “Joy (Guilt)” resurrects the spoken word style of vocals that i last remember hearing on a BLUR record in the days when i used to dance, and this song would’ve gotten me out on the floor.
